Wood Leaf Journals

"Whispers of Revival: Red Pine’s Love Song"
Derived from the Japanese art form “Kyogi” (経木) in Nagano, Japan, this exquisite wood journal weaves together tradition and creativity. Kyougi, the art of crafting thinly shaved wood, has a rich history. These delicate wood shavings were once used for inscribing Buddhist Sutras, and now they grace the pages of a truly unique and precious wood journal/notebook.

Each notebook is meticulously handcrafted from reclaimed “Akamatsu” red pine, sourced from the Shinshu Ina Valley in Nagano, Japan. But this notebook is more than paper and ink—it’s a tribute to the living world.

Reviving Red Pine: From Withering Trees to Shaved Wood Notebooks

In Nagano, Japan, red pine faces a nemesis called “pine blight.” This destructive nematode infiltrates the trees, rendering their fibers useless for lumber. Facing the challenge of pine wilt disease, Akamatsu trees receive careful attention. Some are treated with protective chemicals to prevent further spread, while others are respectfully incinerated. Despite their gradual decline, these trees, which have been nurtured over decades, now find renewed purpose. Rather than allowing them to wither away, we’ve chosen to infuse new life into these resilient trees, seamlessly integrating them into our daily lives.

Embrace the wood notebook’s imperfections, for they are part of its charm. Over time, it may warp, crack, and change color. Red pine oils may grace its cover and spine, adding to its character. Like all natural things, this wood journal invites you to appreciate its unique and delicate beauty.

This journal is perfect for anyone who wants to indulge in nature and add a touch of rustic charm to their writing. The wooden texture of the journal is smooth and enjoyable to the touch, making it not only visually appealing but also comfortable to use. This beautiful wooden journal will be a perfect gift for people who appreciate nature.
