Founded in 1935 in Fukuyama, Hiroshima, MIYUKI is Japan’s oldest existing bead manufacturer. For more than 90 years, the company has refined the art of glass beadmaking, earning an international reputation for exceptional quality, precision, luminous color, and remarkable consistency. MIYUKI continues to produce its glass beads in Fukuyama, where the process - from preparing the raw materials to forming, finishing, and inspection - is carried out through an integrated production system.
At the heart of MIYUKI is a philosophy they call “Beading Happiness” - the joy of discovering beautiful beads, becoming absorbed in the act of making, and sharing something created by hand. Their tiny glass beads have become a creative material for makers, designers, and artists around the world, transforming the smallest components into objects of extraordinary detail and expression.
We were especially drawn to MIYUKI’s miniature bonsai kits, where beads and fine wire slowly become leaves, branches, and sculptural little trees. Each bonsai is shaped by the person making it, so no two need to be exactly alike. The process is quiet and wonderfully tactile - threading, twisting, joining, and shaping one small element at a time.
